Improving Return to Work Support for People with Long-term Health Conditions

On 26 May 2016 Theresa Hodge, SENDPO’s Policy and Development Officer, will be attending an event in London to launch the Work Foundation’s paper "How can the new health and work programme close the disability employment gap?"

Disability Action Alliance (DAA) Strategy Workshop

On 6 May 2016 Theresa Hodge will be attending a Disability Action Alliance (DAA) strategy workshop in London.

There are a number of changes being made to how the Disability Action Alliance will be run, and this session will give an opportunity for DAA members to feed into both the strategy for the Alliance, and into how they will work together as an Alliance. Members will also receive an update on developments.  Liz Sayce (DAA Chair) and other members of the DAA steering group will host the meeting and form the panel for questions and answers.

English Federation of Disability Sport (EfDS)

Nick Tapp and Theresa Hodge met with Steve Snelling-Day, the South-East Engagement Officer for EFDS, who has replaced John Whittingham (who previously spoke at a SENDPO meeting).  Steve wanted to look at how EFDS could work with SENDPO.

Round Table Discussion on Proposals for the New Work Programme

Theresa Hodge, SENDPO’s Policy and Development Officer, attended this round table discussion, hosted by the DWP, in London on 11 April 2016.

The Government has set up a new Work and Health Unit, which aims to bring different Government departments together.  They’ve recently secured funding to collate all the systems and are in the early stages of the direction of the new programme.
