Citizen Advocacy in Surrey - Your help could change someone’s life

SDPP are currently seeking volunteers to join our growing team of Citizen Advocates.
Citizen Advocacy works in the same way as professional Advocacy, however, the Advocates are volunteers.
Like all Advocates, our goal is to empower people to speak for themselves; to help them get their voice heard.
Citizen Advocates are an integral and much valued part of our Advocacy service and we are therefore seeking volunteers who possess the below skills:
• A Citizen Advocate requires patience
• Understanding
• An ability to 'think outside of the box'

NHS Advocacy Complaint Service in Surrey

Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership are working in partnership with Healthwatch Surrey to deliver The NHS Complaints Advocacy Service. This is a free and independent service that can help you make a complaint about a National Health Service (NHS). This could be hospitals, GPs, mental health services, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, opticians, 111, walk-in centres, NHS-funded private care and more.
If you do not feel comfortable making a complaint by yourself, or you need support at any point during the complaints process, we can give you that support.

New resource to support the management of volunteers in the care sector

Not-for-profit care providers have a tradition of recruiting volunteers, and as the Care Act comes into force volunteer contributions will be a great asset in helping to implement new models of care. So it is timely that TLAP partner organisations - Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) and National Care Forum (NCF) have produced a volunteer management toolkit.
